Neck Cords

Our Circle (Circle of the Southern Cross) found a great way to make the neck cords. First, pair up all of your scouts. Then, give everyone their pieces. They take turns with one holding the three strings of yarn and the other one braiding it. After it is braided, then both ends are knotted. Next, take a coat hanger and bend the hanging part so that it forms a very narrow hook (or "needle"). Then, push your "needle" through the hole in the bead. Next, put one end of the yarn through your "needle" until the "needle" is in the middle of the length of yarn. Now have one person hold the bead (on the yarn side) and the other pull the hanger out the other side. This was difficult, but each scout was finally able to do it.
